Improving Life Outcomes sets out to do just that “Improve Life Outcomes”.
In an ideal world, everyone would reach their full potential
Improving Life Outcomes was launched in 2017. Previously known as DottyWobble the name change is more aligned with what the organisation is all about. It still provides the same great products and services while growing to offer much more.
It all started in 2012 when Angela Stanfield started getting requests from parents and teachers for the resources and communication system she was making for her own autistic son. Angela’s son was diagnosed just after he turned 3yrs old. His lack of developing language skills as a toddler was the most obvious sign that he might be taking a different path to development although there were other clues. Once Angela started a visual communication system with her son and started seeing results she turned her attention to making all manner of resources to help her son not only with his language skills but with his routines, behaviours, learning and anxieties. By the time he started at this local mainstream school, he could follow a work schedule, write his name, knew his alphabet, numbers 1-10, basic colours and draw a stick figure. Angela’s son attended mainstream school until the end of year 6. Although her son had some funding he did not have a full-time teacher aide. Angela worked closely with the school spending many hours in the classroom helping not only her son but other children as well. From this Angela created more resources, helping all the children in the classroom whether they had special needs, learning difficulties or not. Years on these are still in use in these classrooms. Angela still does a few hours a week in the classroom.
Now that her son is enrolled in a special school attending a satellite class at a local school, Angela still helps out by providing resources that suit her son’s style and stage of learning when needed. There are some things her son can do well
and other things that are challenging but Angela’s son continues to make progress as he develops. Outside of school, Angela is determined her son will have many life experiences alongside his family, friends and peers.
Angela is passionate about Improving Life Outcomes for those with special needs and/or learning difficulties.
Prior to Angela’s son’s diagnosis, she worked in research science for 20 years and holds an MSc degree in biological sciences.
Improving Life Outcomes helps individuals with learning challenges with communication, education and behaviour management strategies. This includes children and adults. We look forward to helping.
